National telephone survey of 750 enrolled college students that was conducted to obtain information on their use of credit cards

Student use of credit cards is of increasing interest as the availability and use of cards has become common in the daily lives of most Americans. Consequently, knowledge of national trends in students’ reliance on credit cards is fairly limited. To address this lack of information, a nationally representative telephone survey of 750-enrolled college students was conducted. While findings challenge the widespread notion of credit card misuse and debt among college students, the survey also reveals warning signs and patterns of potential misuse of credit cards among a significant minority of students.
