The fourth in a series under the Tribal College Research and Database Initiative, this policy report explores the expanding role of Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU) in serving local communities and examines the challenges and successes in some specific areas of involvement, including preschool, elementary and secondary education; health and nutrition activities; faculty role models; agriculture and natural resource management; and cultural and language preservation and development. Tables detail college linkages with K-12 schools and provide examples of land use on reservations. Also included are specific recommendations for continued support of TCU efforts.
