IHEP Joins over 50 Organizations in Urging Congress to Pass the Understanding the True Cost of College Act

A new report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reveals major shortcomings in the financial aid offers provided by colleges, making it difficult for prospective students to compare offers and assess college affordability. GAO found that many colleges exclude key costs, factor in loans to make college seem less expensive than it is and fail to provide the net price — the actual amount a student needs to pay. Passing the bipartisan, bicameral Understanding the True Cost of College Act (UTCCA) would ensure that colleges provide students with clear, transparent, and comparable information about college costs and the financial aid options available to cover them.
