IHEP Joins 76 Higher Education Organizations in Calling on Congress to Support Students by Strengthening the Pell Grant

Washington, DC – The Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) joins 76 higher education advocacy groups in asking Congress to support today’s students during the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) public health crisis and beyond by strengthening our investment in the federal Pell Grant program. As Congress works to support current and future students through recovery packages and the FY21 appropriations process, we ask appropriators to double the maximum Pell Grant award and ensure that the grant increases as the rate of inflation. Congress should also protect and preserve the Pell Grant Reserve Fund, to ensure that the program continues to promote college access for generations to come.
