Arnold Kee Appointed as Director of Programs

Washington, D.C., Aug, 18, 2004—The Institute for Higher Education Policy is pleased to announce that Arnold Kee has been appointed Director of Programs at the Institute. As Director of Programs, Kee will manage the day-to-day operations of several major activities of the Institute, including the Institute’s facilitation and coordination work on behalf of the Alliance for Equity in Higher Education. He also will play a key role in building the Institute’s expanding international portfolio.

In making the appointment Institute President Jamie Merisotis said, “Arnold Kee will be a valuable addition to our team. He brings more than a decade of experience addressing issues of access and equity and has an innovative and thoughtful perspective on higher education management and policy issues. We are thrilled to be working with him.” Kee comes to the Institute from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), where he served as Coordinator for Minority Services and created and managed an array of programs that support the association’s members. He also served as the AACC representative in a variety of settings, including task forces and national meetings, and he has experience in all phases of proposal development and created a journal that linked research and practice to promote inclusion. Previously, he worked as a legislative aide and legal researcher for several different organizations.

A 1988 graduate of Tufts University, Kee also is active in local community programs in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and is the founding president of Expanding the Circle of Excellence, a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage more disadvantaged youths to become high achievers.
