A Policy Briefing by the Institute for Higher Education Policy and TG
Bridging State and Federal Aid Policies to Make College More Affordable
TG, a Texas-based nonprofit corporation, and the Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) invite you to a policy briefing to address the interdependence between state and federal financial aid for students seeking a higher education.
Presenters will address the early outlook for higher education issues, appropriations, and timing for the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act during the 114th Congress.
Today, Texans rely primarily on federal student aid to help finance their college education. Approximately 60% of all direct aid awarded annually to Texas students comes from federal aid. In particular, Federal Direct Loan volume
for colleges and universities in Texas totaled $5.2 billion in academic year 2013–2014.
As the 114th U.S. Congress begins its first session and Texas begins its 84th Legislature, it is critical that lawmakers work toward an alignment of federal and state policy, to ensure higher education access for all Texans.
Seating is limited for this event, so please register soon.
