This report reexamines the relationship between grant assistance and overall college affordability, chronicling the impact of grants on families’ ability to pay for postsecondary education. Data analyzed span the past two decades, and indicates that the capacity of grant aid to keep the price of college within students’ and families’ reach has been diminished in light of rising prices and static funding.
