Andrés Quintanilla is a Research Analyst at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). In this role, he supports IHEP’s various research projects including Talent Hubs and Degrees When Due. Before joining IHEP, Andrés served as the Institutional Practices Manager at Excelencia in Education, a research and policy organization focused on Latinos in higher education. In this role, he shared evidence-based practices in higher education to improve the ways higher education institutions serve Latinx students. He is also a product of and spent some time working for federal TRiO programs.
Andrés graduated with a bachelor’s in Criminology from the University of Maryland and a master’s in Higher Education Administration from the George Washington University. He is passionate about better serving historically underserved students and increasing their access to and representation in higher education.
As a proud DC area native (P.G County, MD!) and the son of immigrants from El Salvador and Honduras, Andrés advocates for students that come from similar backgrounds and communities. In his spare time, he cheers on the World Champion Washington Nationals and the World Champion Washington Capitals, as well as other area teams that have brought him heartache for years.
