Timeline

November 14, 2008: Application period opens.
January 21, 2009: Application deadline. Applications will not be accepted after 5 p.m. (EST). Incomplete applications will not be considered during the selection process.
March 2009: Selected institutions announced.
July 19-24, 2009: Participating teams attend the 2009 IHEP Summer Academy, where they will develop their institutional actions plans to improve academic success for first-generation students.
Fall 2009: Participating institutions begin implementation of action plans.
September 22-December 18, 2009: Second cohort application period.
Fall 2010-Spring 2011: Consultant site visits to participating institutions to support successful plan implementation.
Early 2010: Second 15 selected institutions announced.
July 19-23, 2010: Second cohort teams attend the 2010 IHEP Summer Academy to develop institutional action plans.
Fall 2010: Second cohort institutions begin implementation of action plans.
Fall 2010-Spring 2011: Consultant site visits to remaining first cohort and to second cohort.
July 2011: Participating teams attend the 2011 IHEP Summer Academy to refine action plans, expand project scope, and report best practices.
Fall 2011: Publication of best practices report outlining work of participating institutions.
