Eligible Institutions
Only Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)—Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Predominately Black Institutions (PBIs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) are eligible to apply. Given IHEP’s work with the Alliance for Equity in Higher Education, a collaborative of the three major organizations representing MSIs, IHEP will determine MSI status by confirming institutional membership in one of the following Alliance organizations:
- American Indian Higher Education Consortium, representing TCUs;
- Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, representing HSIs; and
- National Association of Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, representing HBCUs and PBIs.
MSIs may be two- or four-year, public or private institutions.
In addition, eligible institutions must be in good standing with regional accreditation requirements.
Note: IHEP will not consider multiple proposals from one institution.
Institutions who applied but did not receive a grant in the first cohort selection are still eligible to receive a grant in the second cohort. Such institutions must resubmit a proposal for consideration for the second round of grant decisions.
